<p>What’s on the menu? Well it’s constantly changing, dependent on the seasons and local suppliers. And depends if you&#8217;re team posh nosh or firmly in the pub grub camp (although that&#8217;s still fairly posh too). If classics are your thing you&#8217;ll find your favourites in the rustically-charming original 14th-century pub. Think beer battered haddock, gravy-laden pies, Cumberland sausages and steaming fruit crumble with lashings of custard. If you’re feeling fancy then the glass-glad dining room might be a better fit, where you&#8217;ll find the&nbsp;A La Carte and Michelin Bib Gourmand menus. The Sunday roasts here are legendary too.</p>



<p>Order from the Michelin Bib Gourmand menu and you&#8217;re guaranteed a steal –&nbsp;high-quality food at great value. For just £36 you can tuck into three courses, with top-tier choices like tiger prawn ravioli with beuure Nantais to start and escalope of Dingley Dell pork with anchovy butter for main. Follow it up with the buttermilk panacotta with poached rhubarb.</p>

<p>New to <a href="https://essex.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/galvin-green-man-chelmsford-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galvin Green Man</a> is the Galvin Coffee Co – from 9am, Mon- Fri, you can grab breakfast with the perfect coffee served alongside, whether you&#8217;re a capuccino or cortado kinda girl (there&#8217;s a proper tea selection too). The menu is carefully curated with buttery pain au chocolate and croissants – stuffed with cheese and tomato if you wish; toasted sourdough with Irish butter and Tiptree jam; Great Garnett&#8217;s ham and cheese toastie and crushed avo and poached eggs on toast. No need to book, just turn up when you don&#8217;t feel like making your own.</p>

<p>Despite this being an award-winning travel-worthy location, there&#8217;s loads of stuff going on at Galvin Green Man that gives it a friendly feel (lucky you if this is your local). There&#8217;s the usual list of special occasion set menus, but it&#8217;s the monthly live music and quiz nights that lean into that community feel. Monday night is Steak Night and there&#8217;s the Galvin Book Club that sees a variety of chefs come in to celebrate their latest cook book. Naturally there&#8217;s food involved in this book club, as well as wine pairings, and guests receive a signed book too.</p>

<p>There are five, individually decorated private dining rooms at Galvin Green Man. They can seat between 8-18 guests (or standing parties of up to 25 people), depending on your party size and occasion. Each is fully equipped with WiFi, a large screen TV, DVD player and inbuilt speakers for music. Plus, there&#8217;s group dining menus and half and full day delegate packages to make planning easier.</p>

<p>In summer the outside space comes into its own and has the makings of a very leisurely weekend indeed. The terrace is just the right spot for al fresco dining, and maybe a couple of cocktails. While the riverside garden, with panoramic views of the Essex countryside, is a charming place to while away sunny afternoons. Plus the play area will keep little ones busy. There&#8217;s a walk you can take too from <a href="https://walks.gojauntly.com/walks/little-leighs-to-green-man-howe-st-18378624066843316711" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Little Leighs to Galvin Green Man</a>, if you fancy it. It&#8217;s a stretch at 4.9km (should take about 1.5 hours), but will work up an appetite.</p>
