<p>First on our Essex tea rooms to visit is this fancy indie. As well as Insta-worthy décor you&#8217;ll also snap many a pic from the menus. The stuffed croissants will have you stuffed (but in a good way), with the brie, habanero chilli jam and rocket up there on our hit-list. There&#8217;s also lunch, drinks and afternoon tea: egg and cress sandwiches and white chocolate and pistachio macaron, anyone?</p>

<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that <a href="https://wildflowerteas.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wildflower Teas on the Bus</a> don&#8217;t take cards, so head to a cash machine before paying a visit. And it&#8217;s a visit so worth it, besides the fact your food and drink&#8217;s served in a Vintage Routemaster. Serving traditional and themed afternoon teas, breakfast, lunch, pancakes, waffles and cakes.</p>

<p>Another on our Essex tea rooms list is this gem. Priding themselves on organic, fairtrade tea and coffee, they&#8217;re all about supporting indies, working with local dairy suppliers and bakeries for fresh, high quality treats. There&#8217;s a patio for sunny days, as well as plenty of inside seating with views over the Westview Nurseries. What&#8217;s on the menu? Breakfasts, soup, sausage rolls, cakes, paninis, jackets spuds – and tons more. We&#8217;re in it for the lot (burp).</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re not familiar with the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.tiptree.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wilkin &amp; Sons&#8217; Tiptree brand</a>, we don&#8217;t know what rock you&#8217;ve been hiding under. As well as their world-famous preserves, sauces, honey,&nbsp;liqueurs and spirits; they&#8217;ve a fair few <a href="https://www.tiptree.com/locations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tea Rooms</a> across Essex. Expect sandwiches, jackets (not of the coat variety; that&#8217;d be plain odd), quiches, salads and lots of cake. And of course afternoon tea  with scones, their own jam and clotted cream. And even Prosecco. Yes, please.</p>

<p>The gorgeous pink tea room at <a href="https://www.suryahotels.co.uk/teaatthegeorge/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The George</a> may well be familiar sight, but things are changing! Bang in the centre of Colchester, the tea room has closed for a new chapter, but the popular afternoon tea will still be served in the main restaurant for the time being. Watch this space! Inspired by Victorian elegance, pull on those stretchy pants and tuck into finger sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats.</p>

<p>Fancy something quirky? Step forward <a href="https://www.facebook.com/thebookinghall" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Booking Hall Cafe</a>, set in a former train station. Located on the Flitch Way, a 15 mile stretch of no longer in use railway line that goes from Braintree to Bishops Stortford, sit down for a cracker of a toastie, cake or pastry before burning off some of those calories on a long walk (not the full 15 miles of course, unless you&#8217;re much, much fitter than us).</p>

<p>This award-winning <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Merrymeadetearooms/about?locale=en_GB" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">family-run tea room</a> is located within the Grade II listed Merrymeade House. It&#8217;s got all the food and drink you&#8217;d expect, from breakfasts to luxury afternoon teas. Dogs are welcome outside, with a Doggie Afternoon Tea available (think peanut butter paws, chicken pup cake, etc). </p>

<p><a href="https://mrssalisburys.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mrs Salisbury&#8217;s</a> has four locations to eat and drink at (two in Maldon), all of which offer breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas. What else? They&#8217;ve a Cuppa Club loyalty scheme, where with every sip you earn points bringing you one step closer to a complimentary drink or even a slab of cake. We likey.</p>
