<p>What&#8217;s new in Essex? Watch a movie under the stars with <a href="https://braintree-village.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Braintree Village</a>, hosting its first open-air cinema this August. Debuting at the premium Essex shopping outlet from <strong>20-29 Aug</strong>, it&#8217;ll be located next to the North Car Park (where the ice rink was held for Christmas). With a capacity for 300 guests, the purpose-built open-air cinema will show up to three movies a day, including a family film. <a href="https://braintree-village.com/summer-cinema-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Info about it all here</a>.</p>

<p>Get to Southend&#8217;s Victoria Plaza until <strong>28 July</strong> to see <a href="https://www.visitsouthend.co.uk/guide/the-knife-angel/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Knife Angel</a>, a 27ft, 3.5 tonne sculpture that uses its size and materials as a symbol against violence. It&#8217;s made from 100,000 confiscated or surrendered weapons, including blunted flick knives and kitchen knives, received from 43 police forces across the UK. Taking two years to construct, it&#8217;s on a UK tour to educate knife crime, while also acting as a memorial for&nbsp;victims and their loved ones.</p>

<p>The Pheasant, an esteemed pub in Gestingthorpe, has just launched its unique dining concept <a href="https://www.thepheasant.net/champagne-and-fromage" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Champagne + Fromage</a>. For a start each bottle of bubbles is selected from Growers Champagnes, known for their unique character and taste. Then there&#8217;s the cheese, sourced from small-scale, French artisanal producers. Expect creamy Camembert, nutty Comté, goats&#8217; cheese and more. What could be better?</p>
