<p>Our Essex news begins with indie bar and restaurant&nbsp;<a href="https://bamboo-essex.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bamboo Halstead</a>&nbsp;now open on the High Street. We love its chic interior, plus the menus are just as appealing. Breakfasts include a posh full English, poached eggs, veggie options and more. Then there&#8217;s a separate menu after 12pm with salads and selection boards including Ploughman’s and even mini pie and mash. Oh, and there’s even music nights with house and old school garage tunes.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-cat-cafe-comes-to-colchester">Cat café comes to Colchester</h2>

<p>Next on our Essex news is the expansion of Halstead’s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.meowcatcafeessex.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Meow Cat Café</a>, with a second location in Colchester. The first café to actively rehome cats in Essex, the new branch is open Mon to Sat. All cats are up for adoption and come&nbsp;from charity partner Friends of Felines, as well as a team of UAE rescuers. Sounds good to us – you stroke and play with them while they wait to be adopted. Could one be yours? Oh, and there’s cakes, muffins, milkshakes and hot and cold drinks. We’re sold.</p>

<p>Billericay&#8217;s also welcomed a new eaterie to its High Street on 20 July.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.meyrabrasserie.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Meyra Brasserie</a>, located on the former Prezzo site, serves breakfast and à la carte options, with burgers, pastas, salads and other mains. Kids are catered for with their own menu, or you can just pop in for cocktails. The Caribbean Crush, with&nbsp;spiced rum, velvet falernum, blue Curacao, passion fruit, gomme syrup and lime juice has got our name all over it.</p>

Offering vibrant modern Indian cuisine, expect everything from biryanis to tandoori specialties in a building complete with original oak beams and fireplaces.
