If you’re after award-winning Essex-made chocolate it’s got to be Maldon-based TEMPRD, winner of our 2024 Muddy Stilettos Nationals Award for Best Local Food/Drink Producer.

TEMPRD came to life when the founders wanted, but couldn’t find, luxury chunky chocolate in exciting flavours. Family members Rob, Colin, Sonia and Carla vowed to make it happen, launching
TEMPRD in late 2020, soon expanding their team that now includes Darcie and Mandy.

With 17 (and counting) flavours, two bar sizes, a baby bar gift box and the delightfully moreish Shout Outs, launched this year, the team are also concious of how their chocolate affects the planet. From the start there’s been no single use plastic in their processes, packaging and end products. What’s more, the designers and printers are local suppliers, and, of course, their cocoa is sustainably sourced.
