Crouch Ridge Vineyard, Althorne
An award-winning Essex wine producer with scenic river views, Crouch Ridge Vineyard serves up exclusive tasting tours for tipple-seeking day-trippers
Planted on gentle south-facing slopes overlooking Althorne Creek near Burnham-on-Crouch, Crouch Ridge sits on 10 acres of beautiful vines, the first 2,700 of which were planted back in 2012.
Since then, owners Ross and Samantha Lonergan have planted a further 9,900 Pinot and Chardonnay crops, which now produce top-quality still and sparkling Essex plonk.
Don’t believe us? Head down there and take a look/sip for yourself: Crouch Ridge runs a number of exclusive tasting and tour options, including a private Vineyard Buggy Tour & Sparkling Picnic (yes, please!).
Just be sure to sample the vineyard’s Blanc de Blancs Brut – an Independent English Wine Awards Bronze-medal winner that boasts clean, elegant flavours with crunchy English apples, lemon and peach accents that are perfect for sun-drenched summer afternoon drinking.
Meanwhile, the winery’s Pinot Noir is also a standout sip, with its rich, fruity notes adding big flavour to your Sunday roast. Need we say more? Thought not…
