A haven for <em>TOWIE</em> stars past and present, it&#8217;s a world away from what pizzerias used to be like back when Muddy Ed Claire lived in the town. Its pizzas are as head-turning as its interior, with 18 mouth-watering creations <a href="https://figorestaurant.co.uk/menu-brentwood/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">on the menu</a>. We&#8217;re in it for the Bresaola, with cured beef, tomato sauce, mozzarella, cherry tomato, rocket and Parmesan.</p>

<p>Get yourself over to Loughton and book a table for what <a href="https://www.godsownpizza.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">God&#8217;s Own</a> describes as being truly authentic pizza, with 48 hour sourdough bases made fresh every single day. Cooked in a wood fired oven, no less, their focus is on thin, crisp bases (crunchy charred bits a necessity); with classic flavours plus a few more &#8216;out there&#8217; ones to try. The Peking Duck pizza with organic tomato sauce, mozzarella, duck, cucumber, spring onion and Hoisin&#8217;s got our attention.</p>

<p>A couple of friends suggested <a href="https://www.lamensadunmow.com/menu" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">La Mensa</a> – and by looking at their <a href="https://www.instagram.com/lamensadunmow/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Insta page</a> we can see why it&#8217;s their go-to pizzeria of choice. Sure, you can play it safe by sticking to one of their own recommendations (the Pizza Marinara with tomato, black olives, garlic and oregano is delicious and a bargain at just £8.50); but we also like the fact you can add additional toppings of your choice for a small fee. That&#8217;ll be cheese, cheese, and more cheese for us, please.</p>

This is how it works: at <a href="https://www.motopizza.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Moto Pizza</a> you hit the green light at your table and a slice comes straight over. <p>An independent restaurant located just over the border within Bishops Stortford&#8217;s <a href="https://www.eat17.co.uk/bishops-stortford-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Eat 17 store</a>, here you can choose to eat in or get a <a href="https://irp.cdn-website.com/73dd9bf3/files/uploaded/Petrucci%27s%20Pizza%20Menu%20website%20%281%29.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">delivery to your door</a> (4.5 mile radius from the town centre). All pizzas can be customised exactly how you want them, and they&#8217;ll even make a larger 16 inch size if you&#8217;re feeling particularly peckish (it&#8217;s pizza; of course you want to go large). We just spent far too long salivating <a href="https://www.petruccispizza.co.uk/copy-of-menu" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">over their menu</a>, and now want a calzone for dinner.</p>

Just off the main high street in Southend you&#8217;ll find <a href="https://www.pieholepizzas.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pie Hole</a>, creators of 100% plant-based, New York-style vegan pizzas. Eat in or take away, they&#8217;re open Thurs/Fri 5-9pm and Sat 12:30-4pm and 5-9pm. They&#8217;re currently running a promo of any 20 inch pizza for £20 throughout Feb, so if you want a bargain meal get yourself down there for a vegan feast like no other.</p>

Here, locally sourced produce is key, from the restaurant&#8217;s handmade mozzarella to meat from Suffolk&#8217;s Dingley Dell Farm. Then there&#8217;s the menu – we defy anyone to not drool over their wide variety of sourdough goodness. We&#8217;ll be popping in for the Truffle Shuffle pizza: tomato, mozzarella, portobello mushrooms, sausage meat, fresh rocket, parmesan shavings and truffle oil.</p>

You can start your Italian feast off with their range of salads and starters (cured meats platter, anyone?), then dive right into the pizza of your choice (the Super Burrata with double cream and mozzarella, burrata, mortadella ham and pistachio crumb sounds too good to be true).
