<p>Our Essex food and drinks news starts with the <a href="https://boombattlebar.com/uk/southend-on-sea/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">UK’s first Battle Bar</a> now open in The Victoria Shopping Centre. With a premium bar plus food along with live DJs and sports on the big screen, it’s also got an entertainment area full of gaming. We’re talking augmented reality darts booths and axe-throwing lanes, crazier golf, beer/Prosecco pong tables, American pool, shuffleboard, private karaoke rooms and more. You can even bring your kids along before the over 18s only curfew kicks in to enjoy selected areas.</p>

<p>We’re pleased to see this bar’s going from strength to strength since its 30 Sept launch night. Located in Billericay High Street, Cristi’s serves up tasty cocktails and bar food (their focaccia sandwiches hit the spot) along with weekly DJs and singers. They’ve also added a <a href="https://www.cristis.co.uk/brunch/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bottomless Brunch</a> to their line-up, which takes place every Sat from 2-5pm. If you can eat a <a href="https://www.flameandgrillpebmarsh.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">32oz rump steak plus sauce</a> of your choice in under 30 minutes you get your £50 meal for free! The catch? It also comes with 16oz fries, 8oz onion rings, 8oz mushrooms, 8oz tomatoes and two slices of bread &amp; butter. Go on – you know you want to give it a whirl.</p>

<p>Another brand new opening on our Essex food and drinks news list is this <a href="https://thelounges.co.uk/salero/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">lounge and bar</a> located in the town’s former post office. Offering delicious food and drinks, all day, you’ve brunch, sandwiches, salads, flatbreads, burgers and tons more other mains to devour. Kids and dogs are both welcome – and catered for – and there’s even specials on certain nights to make things even more affordable in the run up to Christmas. We particularly like Tapas Tuesdays, where you can enjoy three tapas and a glass of wine for £12.75 from 5pm.</p>

<p>It was closed for more than a year to undergo a huge refurb, so it’s great to see this <a href="https://www.vintageinn.co.uk/restaurants/east/thefoxandravenchelmsford/mainmenu#/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">country pub and restaurant</a>’s opened its doors again. What can you expect? Besides the stunning interior – complete with reinstalled triangular skylight – there’s also a brand new beer garden for when the weather warms once more. Food-wise, think yum! As well as brunch and Sunday options the All Day menu’s impressive, with sharing boards (hello honey and truffle baked camembert!), steaks, plenty of fish and veggie dishes and some seriously mouth-watering puds.</p>

<p>We’ve long been fans of this family-run pub and restaurant due to its great food and amazing outside space that looks directly over the estuary. So, when we heard about <a href="https://thepeterboat.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/festive-menu-2023v2-print.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">their new Festive Menu</a> we knew it needed checking out! Running now until <strong>23 Dec</strong> it’s available for pre-ordered tables only and costs £23.95 for two courses or £28.95 for three. Starters include classics such as prawn cocktail or roasted tomato soup; while for the main event you’ve turkey, gammon, seabass, chicken pie or cranberry and chestnut roast. Lemon posset and sticky toffee pudding are just two of the five choices for pud – and no, you can’t scoff them both.</p>

<p>Fancy a hot Italian inside you? Not that sort ladies (honestly)! We’re in fact talking about the refurbished and taken over pub and restaurant, The Swan Inn. Their <a href="https://www.theswaninnfelsted.co.uk/menu" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">new menu</a> is all about authentic Italian cuisine – and we have to say, it’s making our mouths water. There’s a massive selection of pizzas, as well as starters including deep fried calamari and arancini. As for their pasta? We’re all over the mixed seafood linguine with tomato sauce, chilli and garlic.</p>

<p>We love a new indie opening anywhere in Essex, especially if there’s food and drink involved. Say hello to <a href="https://townhousedunmow.com/menus/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Town House</a>, which opened its doors for business on <strong>1 Dec</strong>. Nestled in the heart of Great Dunmow’s market town, it offers a great combination of comfort with contemporary dining, created using locally sourced ingredients. Pop in for drinks, lunch (of the regular or Sunday variety) or a delicious festive-inspired dinner. At the time of writing there was even space for their <a href="https://townhousedunmow.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/townhouse-menu-christmas-menu.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Christmas Day</a> offering ­– so get in there quick!</p>
