<p>First on our best Essex Sunday roasts is at <a href="https://thewindmillchathamgreen.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Windmill Chatham Green</a>. Headed up by Michelin star Chef Tom and partner Nancy, their offerings come in at £28 for a main, two courses for £32 or three for £38. What&#8217;s on the menu? Goats&#8217; cheese, whipped chicken liver parfait and torched salmon to start, followed by roast aged beef sirloin, leg of lamb or roast chicken breast with all the trimmings. Pudding? It&#8217;s too hard to choose – we&#8217;ll take the dark chocolate creme with hibiscus and rose.</p>

Their Sunday menu&#8217;s served from 12-6pm and is well worth booking for, with tempura squid and pork belly with roasties, swede and carrot purée, pigs in blankets and more.</p>

Their slow-roasted lamb shoulder serves four and comes with roasted tomatoes and a spicy coriander sauce. £115, but when you split the bill it&#8217;s just over £28pp.</p>

<p>The Sun Inn has a cracking firepit and sofas for post-roast sinkage. Not that it matters if it&#8217;s chilly, but roasts are unavailable in the garden, as it&#8217;s too far from their kitchen to maintain the perfect temperature.</p>
