Florence Geary Photography
A lifelong passion that blossomed from capturing Essex’s iconic sites for everyone to enjoy, this local photographer is now seeing her hobby swiftly turning into a successful profession – and it’s easy to see why.
Ever since Florence’s dad bought her an Olympus Trip camera when she was just 10 years old, she’s had a love – and talent – for capturing the essence of the diverse sites Essex is known for. So it was no surprise that she went on to study photography at university before embarking on a career in marketing where she honed her skills as a product photographer.
However, taking beautiful photos of local landmarks has always been at the forefront of Florence’s work. She keeps her camera with her, ready to capture that amazing sunset or moment in time. Being naturally creative, she has an eye for the perfect view and aims to show the most beautiful, atmospheric or quirkiest side of a location.
Understandably, Florence’s work soon caught the eye of local press and businesses. Cobbles to the Sea (taken in the cockling town of Old Leigh) was her first published image (East Life magazine) and it received amazing feedback from locals. Since then, her photos have been popping up all over the county – from her framed prints in Southend’s The Royals Shopping Centre and photos on display in Chelmsford’s Art Place, to taking the front-page spot in Essex Echo with her Lamp in the Setting Sun. And let’s not forget Muddy choosing Florence to take our snaps at the Winners Awards Drinks in September. (Thanks again, Flo!)
If you’re on the lookout for a photographer to shoot a location – be it a countryside idyll, industrial warehouse, store front or public space – Florence will be able to capture that perfect shot and add her own particular, beautiful take on it. See for yourself with the few photos shown above and the many more on her website. And feel free to chat with her about any projects you have in mind – she’d love to hear from you, especially if you’re a home-loving local like herself!
